New prints available for purchase at my store!

Happy new year, everyone. Hope you had good holidays, or at least a great vacation. I got the pleasure of painting many commissions for folks to give as presents. They can be viewed on the newly updated Commissions gallery. I also did a little year round-up in the Sketches 2012 page. Be sure to regularly check my blog, Don't Let The Sun Go Down, for new work. Also note the list of upcoming shows right above here, maybe I'll see you around in 2013?

Oh, and there are new products for you to check out at my store!

I'm excited to finally bring "Her Name Was Prudence" and "Mr. Gormanizer and Mr. Osterizer..." here! They're two huge projects I've spent most of this year on. The first is a sixteen-page intricate pencil comic, and was short-listed for the SAW Micro-Grant. The second is a collaborative art + lit book I did with my good friend, the brilliant writer Ross Hernandez. Both books are available for purchase at my store. I've also updated my Etsy, if you're into that kind of thing!

And check out the Commissions gallery for portraits I've painted for folks. Maybe you'd like one, too?

THE BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: Starting September 3, JEREMIAH will begin its online serialization at JeremiahComic.com.

JEREMIAH is an ink and watercolor graphic novel spanning 160 pages. It's about a sixteen-year-old farm kid who starts to experience doubt for the first time in his life. New pages will arrive on the internet on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. I'll also be posting all three pages to the Cathyboy Tumblr on Sundays, and I'll reblog them onto JeremiahComic.Tumblr.com

This has been a long time coming-- years, really. I'm excited to finally, finally start sharing this story with you.

My name is Cathy G. Johnson. I currently live in Providence, Rhode Island. I attended the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, where I graduated in Spring 2011 with a BFA in Interdisciplinary Sculpture and a Concentration in Book Arts. I studied abroad for a semester at the University for the Creative Arts in Farnham, England. I've had various internships with artists and have a background in technical theatre.

I am an artist who creates drawings, watercolors, texts, comics and artists’ books that work with sentimental thought, humor and sincerity. I draw inspiration from personal journals as well as philosophy and critical theory. I explore themes of legitimacy, youth, fear, and the calm, chaotic desire for everything to be okay.
